Onni Consulting: a path to a more balanced, confident life.

How can I help you?
Coaching
THERE’S no person in the world who hasn’t been stuck in life be it a carrier choice or a personal decision. At one point or another there comes a moment when we have to face a decision that could benefit from an objective, outsider’s help, from someone who can help to find the right path without bias or interest. Family, friends, a partner or even a colleague may have something to say that can be useful or worth considering, but because of their varying degrees of involvement, they cannot necessarily be expected to be clear-sighted or impartial. In situations like this, most successful people are not ashamed to consult regularly with these ‘outsiders’ commonly known as coaches.
A coach is not a psychologist. He is not going to dig into your past and analyses it. If he sees that you need such help, he is obliged to tell you so. This does not mean that the two of you cannot talk about the past for a few questions, but the emphasis is not there. A coach focuses on the present and the future. He is there to help you solve a specific problem, question or blockage – by finding and utilizing the tools within you. In addition, a good coach may be able to discover resources that even you didn’t know you possess, and help you to make them an active part of your toolbox in life.
Mind, that a coach is not your friend. He will not work for you, it is not his job to solve your problems. He may not tell you what you want to hear or what makes you feel good. He’s job is to help finding the right path for you and the best answers for the problems you facing.
So as a coach, I invite you to an exciting journey where together we work through the difficulties you are facing, will try to find the best answers and solutions to the problems you are facing now and do our best the lead to a state of inner peace. The goal is that after the session, you should no longer in need of an external help with the problem you came with as you will be able to deal with it yourself.
Cross cultural communication
IN OUR GLOBALIZED world, multinational corporations have become a common form of enterprises for doing business. In such companies, people from different nations, with very different cultural backgrounds have to work together, and it is only natural that misunderstandings, frictions or even conflicts arise from time to time, making it difficult to focus on work or maintain loyalty to the company. Denying, ignoring or let alone suppressing these issues can quickly lead to a toxic or stressful work environment which can seriously undermine work efficiency and even have a negative impact on profits.
These differences can be particularly striking when two cultures as distant as Chinese and Hungarian meet. However, after more than twenty years in China, I am convinced that we have more in common that unites us than those that divides and with a little help, an open mindset and with a sense of humor, it is easy to create an environment where people enjoy working together, where it is easy to be creative, efficient and successful.
The training does not promise miracles and will not make the prejudices of a completely different culture, culture, religion, experience disappear, but it is not expected to do so either. The real aim is to learn about the other’s culture, customs, values, motivations and fears, because experience has shown that this contributes greatly to empathy and understanding, which in turn leads to a better, more harmonious and effective working environment. All this is done without prejudice, chauvinism, bias or political bias.
The training is conducted in Hungarian for Hungarian staff and in Chinese for Chinese staff, but can also be conducted in English on request. The maximum number of participants per group is suggested not exceed around 30 as this number allows the activity to remain interactive and informal. The only requirements are an open attitude and a willingness to learn.
Mediation
WHETHER it’s a personal crisis, work conflict, divorce or relationship difficulties, manyof these can be solved or settled in peaceful matter with the right communication. The solution or the final result may warry, but what is common is that in more than 90% of the cases, parties reach an amicable settlement, saving hundreds or thousands of dollars on legal fees, not to mention the psychological damage a lawsuit that drags on for years can cause.
During mediation, the mediator helps the parties to communicate in a professionally conducted, civilized and impartial way, in order to find points that will be satisfactory to all parties, having in mind that common agreement is the ultimate goal.
Within mediation, we can differentiate:
Labor mediation
Business mediation
Relationship or divorce mediation
Parent-child (teen-age) mediation
Family mediation
Preparation for presentations. Style advice.
FEAR of public speaking is one of our deepest fears. The good news is that this can be changed. In corporate life, presenting is an almost inevitable part of the job, so it does make a hudge difference whether we do it in a constant fear, anxiety, stage fright or with confidence, courage and calm.
During the session
we will go over the basic rules of public speaking,
review the presentation and make changes, if necessary,
practice the presentation,
review the presentation.
Our appearance may not be the most important part of our journey toward improvement but it is still an aspect we can’t and shouldn’t ignore. The way we dress, the way we look and the way we present ourselves, does have an impact on how we are perceived, how people treat us and even how we see ourselves.
It’s important to clarify that looking good is not about uncritically following the latest fashions or trends but about creating a wardrobe and style that suits our personality, that makes us feel stylish, comfortable and confident.

I believe in the power of words, I believe in the progress. I see every day that with the right commitment and the right help, any change is possible.

Testimonials

I got to know Robert as a very good performer. The topic is particularly interesting for me, as I have been working for a Chinese-owned Hungarian company for several years. I have dealt with cultural differences a lot in the past, but the lecture enriched me with perspectives that I had not encountered before or, if I had, I had not given them much importance. I liked the way it presented Chinese people from many different perspectives, making their thinking more understandable. I particularly liked the historical aspects and the way they were explained and their impact. The lecture kept my interest throughout as it was varied and there was no lack of humour. I have quoted it many times since then and use it in my everyday life.

Robi was recommended to me by a friend who saw I was in desperate need of help. The first few times I had no idea what to say, think or feel, but Robi was always very kind to encourage me. „It’s ok, it will eventually trickle down to my stomach and when I feel it, I’ll be in place” he said. Then as we worked, I felt better and better, Robi always gave me feedback on how much progress we were making towards the goal. I really enjoyed every conversation, which with his sense of humor gave me even more charge. Empathy and the right questions helped me to find the answers myself. With Robi’s help, I was able to better understand my own feelings, reactions, see my goals and the path leading to them much more clearly and the right directions to help me move forward.

I was promoted in the company. This was good news, of course, but the new job meant a much more formal programme, which I felt my wardrobe was not prepared for and I was afraid I would not be taken seriously. Robert was recommended to me by a friend who helped him develop his style – and he helped me a lot. I never felt uncomfortable for a minute: his sense of humour helped quite a bit 🙂
